Rockford, Illinois

Rockford is in the far northern portion of Illinois, and sits on both banks of the Rock River. With winters, bringing bitter cold air masses from Canada and plenty of snow, spring, and summer months produce heavy rainfalls and violent thunderstorms. Rockford has seen some of its worst flooding ever during this decade, with severe flooding in 2006 and 2007, which lead to the destruction of over twenty homes and damaged hundreds more.

The cost of flood damage can be overwhelming to the city, as well as homeowners, most times reaching numbers in the millions. Debris is one of the most common problems from floods, as the floodwaters move thru the city; they pick up any debris left on the street from damaged homes and trees and can block gutters, preventing floodwaters from draining properly.

On the interior, flood damage will begin immediately, by flooding carpets, weakening sheetrock, saturating furniture and inundating basements. With any type of water damage, mold can become a major issue and as well as a health risk.
